About Kamini (As Seen Through The Eyes of Ashish)

Kamini is a free spirited, happy-go-lucky, hassle free gal with a passion for sports, music, and social service. Kamini was a really cute kid who then turned into this 'book worm tomboy' character as a teenager, and then somehow metamorphosized into this confident young woman we all know as she graduated with high honors from Cal. If you ever want to find her, it's real easy. Just look for a 49er fan driving around the streets of Vallejo in a silver beemer listening to the the latest R&B track while enjoying mint and chocolate chip ice cream with french fries (yup, ice cream with fries, yuck!).

Kamini is a total career woman on the verge of being a workaholic. She is one of those people who is ultra dedicated, tries to do too much, and then is always stressed out. She definitely needs a calming influence in her life. Somebody wise must have suggested marriage and she seems to have listened.

Kamini is pretty selective in making friends, but when she does, she is always there for them. She is real fun to hang out with, especially if you take her out to a certain chic fusion Vietnamese restaurant in SF and get her a virgin mojito. And she is a total sucker for desserts - just get her anything chocolatey.

She is pretty adventurous and almost up for anything but tends to be very competitive. If you want to beat her in sports, it's real easy - just go bowling with her. She is horrible!

Kamini is real close to her family and they mean the world to her. But now she is about to embark on this new journey with a certain somebody named Ashish. Who is this lucky guy, you may ask? Well, Why don't you read the 'About Ashish' section below and find out!

About Ashish (As Seen Through The Eyes of Kamini)

Ashish is a very driven, high-spirited guy with a great sense of humor, zest for life, and adventurous spirit.

Ashish's formative years were spent hopping from town to town in India since his dad was an officer in Government Services. He grew up in a tight knit-family environment and always managed to find ways to play pranks on and tease his two older sisters.

The travel bug must be in his genes (or his sisters got tired of the pranks and showed him the door). At the age of 18, Ashish hopped on a plane with just a suitcase full of clothes and a little bit of money. His destination -- Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. With a relentless drive for success, he worked two jobs and managed to get an engineering degree (with highest distinction no less) in three and a half years.

Since then, the Boilermaker has managed to find promising jobs that have taken him from Santa Clara to San Diego. It was in San Diego that Ashish discovered the joys of snorkeling, surfing, and mountain biking. And along the way, he has made time to delve into real estate and travel around the world. His latest adventures? Pursuing an MBA from the University of Chicago and getting ready to tie the knot.

Ashish's love of family, adventure, and fun is matched only by his love of cooking and great food. He's always hungry so don't be surprised if you see him stuffing his face, and if you don't feed him in time, he gets grumpy!

Those of you who know Ashish know that he cannot sit longer than a minute so it will be a miracle when he sits at the Mandap for an hour with no complaints! Stay tuned...we'll all find out on April 28.

When Ashish Met Kamini

Can one word describe a woman with beauty, brains, character, compassion, a beautiful smile, and a great sense of humor? Speechless? I was too. Well, let me enlighten you - that one word is 'Kamini.' If you know her, you know I am not exaggerating or being boastful. It didn't take me too long to realize that after I met Kamini in San Francisco. We had decided to meet near the Ferry Building on Embarcadero around noon. I was getting impatient and anxious as Kamini was late and didn't get there til 2 p.m. as she was stuck in traffic (or so she claims!). But the wait was well worth it. I forgot how those two hours had passed as soon as I saw her walking towards me sporting her signature smile. She was a bit shy at first but couldn't hide her charming personality for long and opened up after a few hours together.

Although Kamini was born and grew up in the States and I spent my formative years in India, I felt we were very similar at the core and shared the same values. We connected really well and talked about anything and everything. I could see all aspects of her rather complex personality - she could be speaking perfect English with every word thoughtfully chosen one second and become the 'Ghetto Princess' we all know the next second! I found out that is she is strong-willed yet soft-hearted, and a wannabe tough girl who will go out of her way to help anyone in need.

Before I knew it, eight hours had passed - we had lunch, dinner, and coffee together, but it felt like only a moment had passed.

That day was no exception and only a beginning. Since that day, Kamini and I have spent alot of time together, but no matter how much time I spend with her, she always leaves me wanting more. I realize that I will have big shoes to fill as her partner-in-crime but I am so looking forward to spending the rest of my life with her. And I need everyone's best wishes, because as you all know, 'Punkie,' as I lovingly call her, is a handful and keeping her happy and satisfied is not going be easy. But I will do my darn best to make sure she always is. Wish me luck people, you all know I need it!

The Proposal

Hmm, the proposal. Don't you want to know everything? The special day was full of surprises for Kamini. It started with a nice breakfast on the rooftop of a seaside joint in San Diego and a tour of some hot spots in the city. Then it was off to lunch on a white sandy beach, followed by a carriage ride, and a romantic dinner. And there was dessert, of course. It was late in the night on a hill by the beach. as the moon was shining bright. Ashish got down on one knee and proposed. And of course, Kamini said yes!
